Rosso di Moltepulciano

Rosso di Montepulciano is a Tuscan wine with which Poliziano makes a very precise choice, based on quality and territorial identity. Rather than downgrading the grapes registered for the production of Nobile di Montepulciano, the winery goes beyond this simple operation - which often leads to selecting the least prized grapes for Rosso di Montepulciano - by identifying a number of vineyards with peculiar characteristics precisely to give rise to this denomination. This is how this young, fruity red is created, endowed with good body and a more than pleasant sip. Poliziano's Rosso di Montepulciano comes from a blend of Sangiovese and a great international grape variety, Merlot. The vines grow in vineyards situated at an altitude above sea level of between 280 and 350 metres, characterised by a clayey and silty subsoil, where there is also the presence of skeleton. The must ferments in truncated conical stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, with punching-down to supplement the pumping-over. Fermentation and maceration last a total of 12 days. Maturation then follows, which lasts 8 months and is carried out in stainless steel and in large casks, for 20% of the total mass. This Rosso di Montepulciano develops in the glass with a ruby, intense and persistent colour. The aromas that envelop the nose move on a texture made up of fruity and spicy notes, also enriched by woody touches and light hints of humus. On the palate, it is full-bodied and full-bodied, with a sip characterised by a fresh and savoury taste, in which the tannin is well worked.
