Attanasio

Attanasio winery is a small reality which has been able to assert itself in Manduria's wine scene thanks to a virtuous and handicraft approach, from which are born important and robust interpretations of Primitivo according to an intense, authentic and territorial style, adhering to the most ancient traditions of Manduria's terroir. Besides the charismatic figure of vine-dresser Giuseppe Attanasio, today his son Luca runs the business, supported by his brother Alessandro, in an atmosphere dictated by passion and by the desire of making known to the world the wine excellence of their land. Attanasio family's vineyards extend for about 7 hectares (about 7 acres) on the clayey soils of Manduria's countryside, made of red and black soils. Vines cultivated with Apulian alberello system are between 40 and 60 years old and guarantee healthy, intense and high quality fruits at every harvest. Works in the vineyard are reduced to a minimum, in order to safeguard the environmental balance, and copper and sulfur treatments are the only pesticides used. In the winery vinification is done following the tradition, with medium-long macerations and with a touch of modernity represented by barriques, used for long aging which, in case of reserves, can reach 36 months. Attanasio wines are robust and austere expressions of the Apulian tradition. The aromatic concentration, the high alcohol content and the light residual sugar which characterize the most intense Primitivo wines contribute in an admirable way to give depth to the taste without making it heavy. In fact, the taste is always balanced, harmonic and elegant, as well as very rich and articulated, capable of fully satisfying the lovers of that full, warm and generous intensity typical of the great red wines of southern Italy, destined to last in time and to positively evolve in bottle for decades.
