Distilleria Quaglia

Antica Distilleria Quaglia is a historic production company capable of combining the ancient traditions of Piedmont in the art of distillation with modern professionalism. It has been located in the hills of Asti for a long time, more precisely in Castelnuovo Don Bosco. In fact, it was established few years after the unification of Italy. In 1906 it was purchased by Cavalier Giuseppe Quaglia, who immediately began to make innovations and improvements: a well was dug for water supply, a boiler was installed to produce steam and the size of the premises was increased. But this was only the beginning. In 1930 his son Carlo took the reins of the family business and led it towards a further modernization, with particular attention to the bottling process. In 1967 with Carlo's son, Giuseppe, the production was finalized and the company began to commercialize grappas from single grapes, always obtained by using the historical stills. Today this historical distillery is managed by the fourth generation of the family with great professionalism. The current owner, Carlo Quaglia, had the courage to question himself, adding to the historical production also modern and innovative distillates. In Quaglia's house innovation and tradition coexist and the distillates produced are the faithful translation of this modus operandi. Together with grappas and vermouths that have made the history of the territory, today are also produced gin, bitters, digestives and liqueurs. Only raw materials of exceptional quality are used, in total respect of the Piedmontese artisan tradition. In every production phase great care and attention is paid to the smallest details, as it is used to do in the historical small distilleries which still operate according to an artisanal method. Stainless steel tanks are used and maturation is done both in tanks and in bottles in order to obtain rich and elegant distillates and liquors. The territory of Asti, between the hills of Turin and Monferrato, strongly characterizes the production of Antica Distilleria's distillates and liqueurs, providing the best conditions to obtain high quality raw materials. The Quaglia family carefully researches and selects aromatic herbs, strictly Italian, capable of giving a balanced and involving taste to the final product. We are talking about one of the most classic examples of modernity placed at the service of tradition and of tradition exalted in modernity.
