La Guardiense

La Guardiense is an important winery in southern Italy and the largest cooperative in all of Campania, which has become a benchmark for the efficiency and high quality of the wines it produces. It is based in Santa Lucia di Guardia Sanframondi, in Sannio Beneventano, in the Matese mountains, home of wines such as Falanghina, Fiano, Greco, Aglianico and Piedirosso. The Guardiense winery was founded in 1960 by 33 forward-thinking farmers convinced of the need to join forces to protect themselves from the discontinuity of markets and vintages. Today the cooperative has more than 1,000 vine-growing members, with a total of 1,500 hectares under vine (600 dedicated to Falanghina grapes alone) scattered across the hills of Benevento, at about 350 meters above sea level. In more than 50 years of history, the constant will to improve, the strong territorial belonging and the desire to best express the peculiarities of Campania's terroir have driven the members to acquire new agronomic knowledge, to equip themselves with the most modern technological equipment, to favor renewable energy, using an innovative photovoltaic system, and to enlist the help and advice of top professionals, such as oenologist Riccardo Cotarella. Guardiense wines are born from Campania's historic grape varieties and stand out for their extraordinary value for money. In fact, the efficiency and capacity of La Guardiense wineries are based on the desire to offer the best oenological expressions of the territory at a price accessible to the whole public. This has given rise to very typical and expressive wines, reds, whites and rosés with a strong mineral note, which honor a history of excellent cooperation in the Mezzogiorno and portend a glorious future.
