Jermann

The Jermann winery was born out of the passion and foresight of a family of Slovenian origin who arrived in Villanova di Farra, Friuli, in 1881. From simple sharecroppers, the family members became vineyard owners in just a few years. Giving a major turning point to the family business was Silvio Jermann in the 1970s, who, endowed with youthful flair and imagination, led the family winery to the Italian and then world heights of quality: no longer heavy, strong and austere wines, but fragrant and harmonious nectars, created according to more modern logic and methodologies, but always respecting tradition. Today that Jermann wines are among the most appreciated in all of Friuli and internationally known, the family property covers 150 hectares, 130 of which are vineyards. The vineyards are scattered in three main areas: on the prized Ruttars hill, where the vines enjoy a light, cool soil and a microclimate that is not too hot with nighttime temperature drops; on the stony soils of the Isonzo, in a sunny but windy area; and in Villanova di Farra, where the old winery is located, in a very evocative portion of the Collio DOC area. A new winery has been built around the Ruttars vineyards, equipped with the latest technologies and populated by large oak barrels that create a truly magical and unrepeatable atmosphere. This is where great oenological landmarks are born, such as Vintage Tunina, Vinnae, single-vineyard whites, Chardonnay W...Dreams, Pignacolusse and Blau Blau, an ancient yet modern and innovative red. Jermann is the author of wines of great quality and international prestige, among the most important architects of the excellent reputation that all production from the Friuli region enjoys today. A love for the terroir and the great native grape varieties guide the work and help deliver successful results: a magnificent range of exceptional, award-winning whites, as well as robust, traditional reds.
