Capitel San Rocco - Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso

Fratelli Tedeschi's Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Capitel San Rocco is a red wine from Veneto capable of transferring to the glass a very ancient oenological practice, the "ripasso" precisely. A technique that consists in macerating a part of the Valpolicella, produced in the previous autumn, in contact with the marcs of the Amarone, after they have been left to dry and have been decanted in March. This is how a wine is born that is decidedly more elegant, smooth and complex than a basic Valpolicella, able many times to approach the magic of Amarone, one of the most important Italian red wines. The Tedeschi family in this field is an absolute certainty: a winemaking history almost four centuries long; a history made up of brave men and an environment, Valpolicella, capable of bewitching with the sweetness of its hills and the charm of its vineyards. Tedeschi has chosen to age his Valpolicella Ripasso for 18-24 months in Slavonian oak barrels in order to increase its olfactory range and complexity; the Capitel San Rocco is, first of all, elegant and intense; in the glass it shows its beautiful ruby red and immediately offers notes of cherry and raspberry, currant and violet.
